Ryan DeLaney was born and grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs of the USA. With a passion for languages and music, he began his academic career by earning a Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice, during which time he worked as a freelance proofreader / copy editor. In 2008, Ryan came to Germany to complete an exchange year for his Master of Music degree and simultaneously worked as an English teacher in addition to proofreading / copy editing and translating texts in diverse fields for international universities, colleges, research institutes, schools, academic journals, publishing houses, businesses, and private authors. After receiving his master’s degree, Ryan remained in Germany, where he further pursued his passion for language by earning a Bachelor of Arts in German and English Linguistics from the University of Heidelberg with great honor (magna cum laude). During this time, Ryan continued his work as a teacher of English and German as a foreign language at a variety of universities, colleges, and language institutes. Today, Ryan assists his clients as a full-time teacher, proofreader / copy editor, and translator. From time to time, however, he can still be found singing on the stage.
